Title: "The Old Man of Wick"
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
Dimensions: 100x150cm

SOLD

The Caithness sea cliffs never cease to amaze me. Whether walking along the top, climbing up the face, or kayaking below them, they are big and imposing. This particular day was shared with friends. The weather was gloomy, atmospheric, dramatic, as if to match the landscape around us. But as the day went on it brightened. This painting aims to capture the light coming through in this moment and the happiness that I feel being by the sea! If you look closely you can see some of us stood on top the arch.

I never get tired of painting the Caithness coastline! With so much to explore, I love finding sea arches, stacks and caves and composing them in a way that will make an interesting painting.

Title: "Beinn Dearg Snow Patches"

This painting is based on a photo I took while out running with friends. We linked five munros and many snow patches which made for a great day out! Until I realised I had forgotten my van keys and one of us had to hitch hike back to the car…

Title: "Holborn Head"
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
Dimensions: 150x100cm

COMMISSION/SOLD

This painting is a commission for friends who have moved to Caithness. I loved painting this, capturing the colours of the sunset reflecting off the sea, the movement of the water, and the detail and varied colours to be found in the cliff when you look closely.

Title: "The Kiss - Stac Pollaidh"
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
Dimensions: 180x100cm

£2,230

AVAILABLE at The Ledge Climbing Gym, Inverness - A World Class Climbing Gym

My mum climbed this mountain when she was about 7 months pregnant with me, and as a result I was nearly called Pollaidh. Despite not being named after the mountain in the end, it always feels like a special place to be. It isn’t the biggest mountain Scotland has to offer but it is dramatic, and fun. I love the sculptural nature of the rocks that form it and especially the two depicted in this painting, that look as if they’re about to kiss.
